Hey guys it’s been a little over a week since I shared Fluster with you. So far I’ve been really pleased by the level of interest that you and others have shown. Thanks to all of you who took a chance to play and give feedback for the first alpha! With all of that in mind I’m happy to share the latest alpha with you. This build has been heavily updated and is almost beta complete. I tried to take in as much of the feedback as possible, a list of some of the key changes follows below the fold:
- Added music and sound effects
- Simplified controls, removing ability to toggle between items and charge
- Added more things to the environment to interact with
- Improved the design of the level in several places
- Updated and added the menus
- Fixed the performance issues
So give it a spin and let me know what you think! At this point I have a few days until the contest which means that JZ and I are going to focus on fixing bugs and adding a little more polish, please let us know if you find anything! Finally, if you gave some feedback which you don’t feel was addressed let me apologize ahead of time. In this case there wasn’t enough time to address everyone’s concerns, even if they were spot on, but hopefully there’s enough that’s good about Fluster to overlook it’s weaknesses.
Anyway, check it out, let me know what you think!

One issue I ran into was if you are right up against a wall and launch something, it ends up on the other side of the wall. I lost a couple green bouncer things and keys doing that.
The sound and music add a lot. Also, fps more than doubled for me :)
Paul thanks for the feedback! As for the walls issue I’ve already started to address that and am going to go through one last time to try to fix everything.
I’m glad you liked the music / sound and I’m really relieved the FPS was fixed! Going to move to the beta tonight!
