More experimenting
Thanks goes out to everyone who gave me feedback on my last experiment! It’s always fun to share things with you guys and hear what you think. Since I posted that experiment I’ve been hard at work on another word game — which I will hopefully be able to share with you soon. Enough about that though, what I really wanted to show you today was another experiment of mine. Once again I’ve been thinking about alternative styles or mediums.
Flash Game Market Survey Results
Recently Mochi and some other big players in the Flash gaming community sponsored a survey to get a feel for the state of the industry. The results are in and it’s worth taking a look. What really stands out to me is that most Flash game developers are making games as a hobby and with little or no money coming in. Anyway, check out the slide deck after the fold.
Can I Get Your Opinion?
Hey everyone, I’d like your thoughts about a possible art-style for another word game I’ve been thinking about. Basically I’d like to hear whether you think it’s aesthetically appealing, whether you’d click and try the game based on this look, and anything else you care to share. Check it out and let me know what you think!
Box2d and Flash
After I completed Adlib I started to play around with a bunch of different technologies. I wanted to try out new technology and new ideas and see what came up. One of the things that interested me was more realistic physics simulation. With Fluster I wrote a simple physics system to accommodate the platforming elements, but I knew that if I wanted to have deeper interactions I would need a real physics library. So I took a look at Box2d. Here’s the prototype I made and some thoughts about using Box2d.
