Quick Thoughts on GDC

As you likely know I flew to San Francisco to attend the Game Developer’s Conference last week. I’m still catching up on things back at home but I thought I would take a few minutes to write down some of my impressions of the event.

To keep things short and interesting let’s do this in bullet point format:

  • It was great to meet some of the people I’ve been reading on the web
  • It was a great opportunity to network/connect with the larger indie community
  • The sessions were hit and miss — some of my favorites were non-technical in nature
  • I went to the IGDA annual meeting but apparently the rest of the industry didn’t…
  • Indie gaming is almost boring now, everyone is angling for a publishing deal
  • After a week of crowded, loud parties and meeting tons of people I’m ready for silence and seclusion!

GDC 2010

And that’s it for now. Send me an email if you’d like to go into any of these bullet points further. I have a great deal more to say about some of these points but I’m still trying to piece together my thoughts.

If you were at GDC what stood out for you?
